๐ค Quality Sleep and ๐ธ Quality Margins Check-in!
I announced in December my theme for 2026: Sleep + Margins.
To keep in front and center, I'm making it an entire section of the newsletter. Thanks for following along!
SLEEP:
In January I learned to let things go... it's been so helpful and relaxing and giving up control where I already have none.
In February, I worked on little steps to improve QUALITY of sleep like turning off the WIFI.
In March, all 5 of the humans in my house were sick with a virus and it was only about survival.
My plan for April: less screens at night.
Fun fact: 9 years ago I was in my 2nd of 3 school years of my MBA. I was working full time, very pregnant, and going to grad school in the evenings 2 nights a week from 6-10pm.
I learned that I cannot use my brain for deep thinking after 7pm or I will not sleep. I will be up all night thinking. The same thing is true now. I can't work in the evening or I won't sleep. I will be up all night strategizing better business strategies, thinking about our clients numbers, and probably starting some new business by morning.
My goal for April, hard stop of the thinking at 7pm and no screens after 9pm. In bed by 10pm. Thanks for following a long!
MARGINS:
A big project is underway internally at Finance Fight Club. We're tracking all our clients margins on one giant dashboard.
The dashboard is underway and I couldn't be more excited to share the results next month.
The big hairy goal here is: Our team needs to be actively increasing those margins for clients or our work doesn't pay off. I want to see a big picture of our progress to know exactly where we can make things even better for our clients.
What we're tracking:
- Annual Revenue
- Expenses as a % of Revenue
- Owner's compensation
- The change over time
